The inability is certainly stressful. I've also found that what I think are my "best" articles often aren't the ones that perform the best. I understand my niche, but often what "pops off" seems counter intuitive to both the niche or quality of my writing/photos. It feels like you're working for yourself, but at the whim of the wind.
