Today we sit down with one of my new favorite bands, The Hasbens, for a brief artist profile and update from the coolest jam band in the Pacific Northwest.

Backstory: I first discovered The Hasbens while on a random photo-walk one evening in Bend, Oregon. Myself and another photographer (Steven Obrien) went on our normal route to chat and take snaps of our town, ending at the local hipster bar and music venue Spoken Moto. While sipping on a cider and talking about some niche cameras and vintage Toyota Land Cruisers, I heard some oddly familiar guitar sounds coming from the stage behind me.

I say “oddly familiar” because the guitar riffs coming from this (then unknown to me) band echoed the sweet southern mellow tones commonly found in songs by The Allman Brothers Band and other southern rock.

This would’ve already been strange to hear southern-rock at a hipster bar in Oregon, but it gets stranger still. It wasn’t only an Allman Brothers esque sound, they also brought with them ska up-beat rhythms and a laid back vibe as well.
