Taken on my Canon R5 in New Hampshire, exported to a 4000px long side and low screen output sharpening.

I used to work for a regional outdoors, travel, and luxury focused magazine in Oregon and Washington. We had some of the best images and design in the industry. We had a standard for publishing photos in print and digitally. In fact we even won awards for this, and our lead designer worked tirelessly to ensure this happened each and every time (Thanks Allison!).

So, what did I learn from this? And why does it matter to you?

Well, I learned that a “perfect” photo displayed on your iPad, or your desktop, or your phone, or even in print, might not always work in different mediums. In fact, to achieve a uniform presentation and standard of quality, the same photo needs to be prepared for export in many different ways.

If at the end you have any questions feel free to leave a comment or direct message me on IG @elijahrha or @foxfotoco , I’ll happily respond to anyone on either!

You can learn 3 of the most important key aspects below.

  1. Aspect Ratio
  2. Color Space
  3. Resolution and DPI
