This small-town fire truck looks like it’s seen a lot of action, but it’s all about standing ready for the next call. Something about the simplicity of these volunteer departments makes you appreciate the heart and soul behind them. That red roof is giving a little extra pop, too — matches the trucks perfectly, doesn’t it?

This is part of our Points of Interest series. Our previous post about the Mojave Desert can be found here.

Personal Intro

This summer I was visiting Maryland for a few weeks and stumbled across a Youtube video titled “A Bucket List Ride to the Loneliest Road In Maryland” . I looked up where it was and discovered it was only about 35mins away so I hopped into my Volvo and went to explore.

The drive itself, and frankly the location as well, was not THAT interesting visually.

There’s something lonely about an empty bridge, isn’t there? That tilted traffic barrel just makes it look even more forgotten.

However the island/town has some pretty interesting history and a difficult future ahead of it.

You can read below the history or just look at the pictures. You do you dear reader!
