As others have said, CPLs are probably the biggest exception. I also adore my Tiffen Black Pro Mist Diffusion filters for any type of night photography to help bloom out harsh city lights. Yes, you could do this in Lightroom with masks, but not consistently or naturally and it adds to your workflow.

Lastly, a variable ND is pretty essential to most videographers (I know that's not really your focus though) to maintain consistent exposure between different scenes (liking going from indoors to outdoors and not adjusting your aperture or shutter speed).
